        Art has been very effective in portraying the desires of society and the power wielded by segments of that society, and by certain institutions with which we have coexisted for centuries. Painting's role as a historical repository of the times is undeniable. All the pictorial heritage left by the great masters, and even by so-called peripheral artists, has generated an inescapable arsenal of references.
        Gabaskallás lives in the 21st century. 
        How can we look at classical painting and situate it in the world as it is today?
        Creating a unique language based on these references, overlaying current values, aesthetic, and cultural shifts, is incredibly challenging.
